Subject:wave mapper device error

Something happened either to sound forge 4.0 or my sb live
card. I get this error message every time I try to play or
record audio "An unknown error occurred opening the Wave
Mapper Device"

What happened and how can I fix it. I am editing the audio
for a video due Monday. Somebody please help me.
