OK. You've got Vegas Video out of your system. Now back to the roots. After all, the name of the company is "Sonic" Foundry. I understand the multimedia mission, but... The motto "Create, Edit, Deliver" must reflect State Of The Art. The package baseline must now include 24 bit, 96 kHz capabilty, increased speed and efficency plus supporting features including effects, state of the art rendering to 16 bit (have a talk to Apogee about licensing UV22?)and noise reduction (about time this was bundled). The interface of SF4.5 is both deep and broad in a 16-bit world, but in terms of addressing the advancing market, even Cool Edit 2000 must currently be considered a leader in the "bang-for-buck" value proposition. A statement of commitment to maintaining the Sound Forge platform as "editor-of-choice" in the professional stereo market is long overdue. Every marketer knows that it is cheaper to retain existing customers than to gain new ones. "Forwards ever, backwards never" may be a motto to reflect on. jds |
