Subject:what files to backup for Direct-X presets???

over the last few years, I've had to reformat my drive numerous times, and reinstall my Sound Forge programs. Until recently, I had very few custom presets. Now I have quite a few,,,,some with the general program (pan/expand, etc..), and a lot with the XFX2 and Noise Reduction v2.0 plugins. What files do I need to routinely backup so as to not lose all my personal filter setups in case of a drive crash? And...after backing these up, what is the proper way to reinstall them? Just reinstall the program(s), and then overwrite the backed up files?? thanks much. |

Hello. To backup the presets, you could use the "Preset Manager" tool available from the Tool menu in Sound Forge. The Preset Manager is used to backup and transfer user-defined presets from all of the effects, processes, tools and Plug-Ins that are installed in Sound Forge. Presets This section contains a tree view explorer for all of the presets that exist in your Sound Forge installation. Presets will be organized by menu and then by function. For example, if you want to access a preset in your DirectX Fungi Filter plug-in, click the plus sign next to DirectX, then Fungi Filter and then select the preset you wish to add. Preset package contents This section contains a list of all of the presets that you have added to the current preset package. To add a preset, select it and press the Add button. You can add as many presets as you like. To remove a preset, select it in the Preset package contents list and press the Delete button. Settings Pressing the Settings button will open a temporary dialog for the selected function. From here, presets can be created on the fly to add to the preset package. Thanks. thanks much on the info. I did eventually find out how to do this from searching through the "FAQ" portions of the site. I got them all backed up right now....no problem at all. That worked perfectly. I guess the next test will be if I have to use the backup file someday...... hope not. thanks again.
