Subject:Automatically spitting tracks at silence

If I record my vinyl to a WAV can I automatically create
seperate WAV files in SF rather than cutting-to-new and
saving?
Using silent periods as the split / track marker would do
OK - except for live concept albums?
I know this can be done in Adaptecs Spin Doctor
Also, where can I get hold of a manual for SF and
CDArchitect?

Cheers

Bob

I believe you have an option for this in SF's Record menu. You should
be able to select "Create a new window for each take" in the Mode
drop-down menu.

You can also select "Multiple takes creating regions" which will
still put all the songs in one big (temporary) file, but instead of
saving this one file you can extract the regions to your HD
using 'Extract Regions' in the Tools menu. Then you can safely close
the big file and choose NOT to save it (for you'll already have the
seperate regions extracted). This is how I usually record entire
vinyl records.

Hope I've explained this correctly ;-)

Many thanks - sounds ideal, however - on my Mode drop down I only get
the option to MULTIPLE TAKES, AUTOMATIC RETAKE or PUNCH IN--- am I
missing somthing?
I am using SF XP 4.5, ver 4.5d build 321

Thanks
Bob

Ah...XP...
I'm sorry to admit that i have little to no experience with XP. I'm
using Sound Forge 4.5 myself and i know i DO have those options
listed.
The only advice (if that's what you can call it) i can give you is to
get yourself the regular SF and use that to do your recording...

sorry, and good luck.
