WHY DOES SOUND FORGE DO THIS WHEN A MAC CANNOT READ THE .AIF EXTENSION. I HAVE TRIED TO TRANSFER A FEW AUDIO TRACKS FOR A SONG THIS WAY, BUT THE MAC DID NOT RECOGNIZE THE FORMAT. WHAT AM I MISSING, DID I BURN THE CD WRONG? |

Hello. I'm no mac guy, but I think you have to rename the file to .aiff after transfering it over into the Mac machine. There is a 3 character limit on DOS file extensions, this is why we had to use .aif as opposed to .aiff Thanks. Im no expert either, in fact i do not own SF, but a friend has it and we have tried what was suggested in the previous posting, but renaming the file from .aif to .aiff does not change the mac attitude toward the file. I would appreciate it if the SF pros would do a little experamenting on this. CUZ I WOULD BUY T IN A SECOND IF THEY COULD SUGGEST A SOLUTION!! I majorly need a tool to convert pc file over to mac, but untill I find a program that can do it, Im not gonna bother buyng anything! I've run into the same problem as well when giving our mastering engineer audio files (he's a Mac Pro Tools User). We can't give him files saved in SF as .AIF's regardless of what we name them. Of course, we have no problem giving him .WAV's, so that's what we do.
