Hi, I am using Director 7.02 with SoundForgeXP 4.5. When I double click on a sound member in Director it automatically launches SF so I can edit the sound. For some reason, I cannot use the programs at the same time, when I play the sound in SF, I get the following dialog box "The 'Microsoft Sound Mapper' playback device is in use by another application. Close or suspend the application that is using the device and try again." When using the trial version of Director, it was not a problem. Anyone got any ideas on what the problem might be? Is it a preference that needs to be set? Thanks, Steven Dempsey |

Hello Steven. It sounds like the full version of the Director program is locking up your soundcard driver, either that, or there is a program in the background running that is. You could hit your Control key, Alt key and Delete key on your keyboard (all at the same time) and hit End Task on every program running, except for Sound Forge, Director, Explorer and System Tray to determine whether this problem is coming from the Director program itself or not. Thanks. Steven Dempsey wrote: >>Hi, >> >>I am using Director 7.02 with SoundForgeXP 4.5. When I >>double click on a sound member in Director it automatically >>launches SF so I can edit the sound. Thanks, but that did not work. It's definitely a problem between Director and SoundForge. Steven |

I use Dir 7.0.2 and Sound Forge 4.5 without problems. Try this: Start SF only. Go to Options/Preferences/Wave and set 'Playback Device' to your specific sound card instead of Sound Mapper. Hope that helps! G Steven Dempsey wrote: >>Thanks, but that did not work. It's definitely a problem between >>Director and SoundForge. >> >>Steven |
