Subject:Dreadful hiss on SF 4.5

Guys, Here's the thing: whenever I'm recording from analog sources, there's always an annoying low-level digital 'hiss' on the background. This damn thing forces me to record very near 0db, which has been wreking havoc on my recordings' headroom. I tried to cut all input sources: it didn`t work. I also tried to develop a filter on SF 4.5, but the hiss waveform seems to be volume-related and quite complex. I think my dirt-cheap sound card is the one to blame (a lousy piece of crap made in Taiwan by C-Media). I tried to contact its manufacturer but they didn't have a clue. Do any of you guys know what I should do? Is there any software solution? Many thanks indeed, Ernest |

Well, I had a cheap ass awe 16 card I was using. I got a brand new 4track and an aureal vortex soundcard and now i record everything VERY quietly. Plus, I record a track at a time onto the computer for faking a multi tracker on the computer. So my hiss levels used to be real bad. But now they're nonexistent. Get a new sound card. It will solve all of your problems. jess101 www.mp3.com/madscientists ...if you want Ernest Hemingway wrote: >>Guys, >>Here's the thing: whenever I'm recording from analog >>sources, there's always an annoying low-level digital 'hiss' >>on the background.
