Likewise SF5 (maybe it should be called SF2000) is coming. Benchmarks published here late last year suggest that an Athlon will run a SF benchmark up to 65% faster than the equivalent clock speed PIII. However, I also noticed last year that in the Vegas Pro beta, it specifically checked on the availability of SIMD instructions .. I assume that there is an ability to switch in some SIMD optimised DSPcode in there. However, I also assume this code would not be necessarily optimised for the 3DNow enhancements in the Athlon. Any comments on performance of SF on the two platforms would be welcome. Any indication of specific support for enhancements such SIMD in the future would help those in my situation of trying to determine the best platform for SF. jds
