I am trying to capture a CD from the CD player on my CPU. I use Sound Forge. I also have a miro DC30 plus capture card. I have captured music for used in videos many times. But today it will not record. I have gone to the settings in the control panel, multi media and tried changing to Miro DC30 plus and TBS Monetego. I am sure this is a simple setting I have not thought of. Any ideas? |

Hello. If you can listen to audio CDs from your CD-ROM drive, then you are not far from being able to record from a CD in your CD-ROM drive into Sound Forge 4.5. Being able to listen to audio CDs from your CD-ROM drive means that the CD-ROM audio outputs are connected to the sound card for playback. The next step is to verify that your sound card's Input for recording is active. The controls for most cards are available by double clicking on the speaker icon on the Windows Task Bar. The speaker icon is located in the lower right-hand corner on the screen. Once the Volume Control dialog appears, go to Options|Properties, select Recording, and press OK. The window will now show Recording Controls. Make sure that the Line Input is active (Check Select or uncheck Mute.) and turned up. You might wish to leave this window open to adjust your CD Audio volume once you are recording. In Sound Forge 4.5, go to File|New and select the appropriate type: 44,100 Hz, stereo, 16-bit is CD quality. Go to Special|Record, or press Ctrl-R on the keyboard. Check the Monitor checkbox to make the Meters active. Play the CD and verify that there is activity on the meters corresponding to the the audio playing. Now simply press the red button to begin recording. Once you have recorded the track, press the stop button (the red button which changed to a black square once recording was engaged). You should now see waveform data in the window behind the record dialog. Close the record dialog, and you can then playback your recorded CD audio and save it to your hard drive using File|Save As.
