Does Sony Acid Express come with any loops? I want to try out Acid to see if it has a rich set of built-in loops (lots of different instruments, lots of different tunes), because MixCraft doesn't, but I can't find any loops in Acid Express. Where are they? Thanks, Brad. |

Acid express- no not really. Acid does if you buy the boxed product, not the download version. Although, if you nip over to acid planet http://www.acidplanet.com/ you'll be able to get hold of "8 packs" (or whatever they call them these days) as well as get an idea of the whole system. In terms of workign with loops - Acid is pretty much king of the castle. |

Adding to what Kenny said, I believe that if you buy the download version of ACID Pro 6, you have the option of SCS sending you the content CD (1,000 loops) and the Kompakt DVD(both of which are free, minus shipping). Iacobus |

> I want to try out Acid to see if it has a rich set of built-in loops (lots of different instruments, lots of different tunes), If you go to the Sony Loops and Samples pages you will find that every loop library has 5 or 6 free loops that you can download. When you consider all of the libraries that are available, that turns out to be a lot of free loops. Actually, when you purchase ACID all you really get is the same sample loops on CD. So all you have to do is go to the genre of music you want on the Loops & Samples pages and download the sample loops and you'll basically have what comes with ACID. ACID is all about buying loops. Find a loop library in the genre you like and purchase it. You will find a rich set of loops that compliment each other. ~jr |

If you download one of the 8 packs, you get a bunch of .wav files. And they are just files. It's not easy to figure out which ones are in a certain key or have a certain tempo. Mixcraft has a really nice library where you could filter your music down to just music that's in a certain key and/or has a certain tempo or only country or pop or rock. Maybe these loop packs you can buy from Sony are all organized like that, but I'm not seeing it in the samples you can download. Am I missing something? Can you filter your loops by tempo? key? genre? Thanks so much! Brad |

I've not used the 8packs for ages, but I mentioned them, just in case. You can get loads of loop packs - for example I have a drum set, that is divided into genre, tempo, piece (hihat, kick, etc) and just about any other sensible seperation of catagories as you desire. I also have a bass pack, that is divided into tempo, and each segment has a loop in each primary key (ie A,B,C,D,E,F,G - not counting accidentals). Ultimately the organisation is down to you, not acid - which is the way I would want it to be. The full version also integrates with media manager, which gives you a bucket-load of tagging and searching options for your files too. |
