When recording/transfering from DAT tape, is there any
mechanism or interface or product that would allow
SoundForge to automatically detect index markers on the DAT
tape? and say flag them with markers?

Thanks // Chris Freeborn

No.

This has been asked for many times. The problem is there is no way
for the wave drivers to communicate this information to Sound Forge
or any other tool.

There were proposals and such to define new wave audio formats to
permit the driver to transfer this information in a "preamble" to all
data. This never went anywhere though, or at least it didn't catch on.

There is a card - the ZA2 by Zefiro - that has a utility or at least
the ability to read and transmit this information in a proprietary
format. Don't remember all the details.
