Subject:Soundforge File Size Limits

Over the millenium weekend I attempted to do a live sound
recording of a rave party.
I set up sound forge with the work directory set to the
root of a newly formatted 8gb NTFS drive

When recording soundforge would stop recording after approx
3 hours and I had to save the file and create a new one.

The 3 hour files are just under 2gb.

Is this a limitation of the application or is there a way
around it.

using
soundforge 4.0
Windows NT 4.0 Workstation Service Pack 5
Yamaha DSP Factory Sound Card
Celeron 333 with 128 meg ram.

Please Comment

Thanks Adrian.

Windows imposes a 2 gig file size limit on .wav files, so
unfortunately there isn't anything you can do. Sorry.

There is a 2GB File size limit in the MS operating system. Most Video
Editors run into this with AVI files. Some Video Editing systems get
around this, such as Canopus, but other than those applications and
hardware, I don't know of a way around it in win 98. Does anybody
know if this is the same for NT?

I have Win2000 and I have a similar problem. I created a
WAV from an 2.5 hour MP3 to edit and I can't open it. The
file size is 2.4 gigs and I have 6 gig's free on both
scratch disks. SF stops about 85% into the file.

Looks like it's time to get another editing program.
