Poor Quality @ higher sampling rates -Sound Forge - PC

Subject:Poor Quality @ higher sampling rates Posted by: mercerms Date:12/21/1999 11:07:00 AM I have recently had an upgrade from a P166 to a P366. This required a new motherboard. I also now am running Windows 98. When I reinstalled Sound Forge and tried to record at 16 bit 44,100hz, I get horrible results. There is a warbling, cracks and digital fuzz. The lower the sampling rate, the better results I get. Though, whenI resample a 22,050hz file to a 44,100 the poor quality is introduced again. Wave files recorded at cd quality on the Microsoft sound recorder sound fine, but then I tyr to open them in SF 4.0 and again they sound poor. I have updated the drivers for my soundblaster 16 card, Directx, and installed SF 4.0 update. Could this have anything to do with a cheap motherboard. (PCChips PC100 M571) which has an integrated sound and video card ? I did disable the integrated sound card and install my old SB16. Nothing has seemed to fix the problem. Sean

My SF4 was running fine then in one afternoon, new win98, new 10.4gb hdd, and the warbling and stuff you describe.... Did you ever solve it? djb M.
