Subject:Sound Forge 4.0b/e wont start

Please, does anyone have some clues about this problem:
We have been using SF4.0b for about 2 years, no problems at
all. Suddenly, last week SF will not start when the shortcut
is clicked on the desktop. The pointer changes to an hour
glass and it looks like it will run and then it goes back to
the normal pointer and nothing further happens. No error
messages, no lockups, just nothing happens. Our other
programs are running fine. We have tried reinstalling (this
then gives the message, the installation is faulty and to
please use setup from the CDROM - we do this but it doesnt
help), fresh windows install (win98) which works for a few
SF starts and then straight back to nothing happening - when
this failure occurs seems to be random.
We even built a completely new system and everything worked
great for about 2 hours and then SF just wont load anymore.
We are running a PII 200/128Mb/9Gb SCSI/S3 video and ZA2
sound. Scandisk/Nortons tells us the data is fine, no
errors. Disks are FAT32 but we have patched to SF4.0e but
this did not help. We have tried various video settings
(currently 640x480x256col) but this made no difference
either. We just cant figure out what it is that lets the
program run for a few startups and then says "no more
loading" type of thing, its like our copy has gone into an
"evaluation mode" time limited sort of thing but this is a
full registered version.
Anyone who can help with some ideas would be gratefully
listened to.
