Subject:Digital sound card recommendations...

I'm interested in capturing two-channel digital music from
DSS satellite (connect via TOSLink), selecting and
manipulating tracks on my PC and then outputting the
finished product digitally to DAT or CD-ROM.

I know that Sound Forge is the sofware that I want to use,
but can't find a reasonable digital sound card. I'm
looking for something with TOSLink in/out, capable of
handling at least 20-bit/48Khz samples that doesn't cost
over $350 or so.

It should also handle everything completely within the
digital domain (without conversion to analog for
processing/aquisition and then back to digital). I prefer a
PCI card.

Note that I am not a gamer or musician, so I really don't
care about MIDI or wavetable synthesis, etc. I just want
accurate digital aquisition and output.

Any reccommendations will be greatly appreciated!

Hi Ken,

Check out www.digitalaudio.com, CardDeluxe product. This is a PCI
Card with a Coax S/PDIF that will do up to 96 KHz/24 Bit audio. This
card is a little higher than $350, appx $450 from www.leighs.com.
Very solid performer. It also has analog in/out, so you could listen
to the result of your edits etc. You'd also need a TosLink/Coax box,
but I think they're only about $50 ?

I use mine with SoundForge and Vegas, flawless.

Regards,
