Subject:what is the best way to compress a sound to a minimum?

i need to upload "waves" to a site i'm building and
i need that "wave" that weights 2-4 mega will be
compressed to no more then 50-70kb. what is the
best way to compress it to this size and still make it
sound good?

Uri,

To lower your file size, you can lower your sampling rate and bit
depth, make sure the file is mono not stereo, and trim any unneeded
silence off the beginning and end of your files. After doing these
things enough to get your file size from 4 meg to 70k, I doubt that
you'll be able to classify the sound as "good." But you could give it
a try and see what you come up with.
