Subject:Can't listen in on recording since new computer

I just bought a new 433 emachine (i know but it was free
from best buy and I was using a 484/100 waiting days for
effects to be added) with windows 98. After I installed
soundforge 4.5 I can no longer get any output while
recording. I can see in on the meter and it is there after
I am done, but I can listen during recording. Any ideas?

You need to enable hardware monitoring with your audio hardware.
Forge does not do this in software. How you do it depends on your
audio card.

I pulled my hair out for two days reconfiguring EVERYTHING, then on
the third day I turned on my computer and noticed that in the Crystal
Audio setup under Multimedia, the playback option includes "Line In"
output volume. I must of opened that window 1,000 times and never
saw that. I'm not this studpid most of the time, I promise.
