In the help file for Sound Forge XP 4.0 is the following: "Sound Forge XP also allows normalization to RMS power. This means that a scan will be done on the sound file and it will be raised in level so its RMS power will be equal to the normalization level." I cannot figure out how to normalize the RMS of my files. My normalize box seems only to normalize the Peak. Does anyone know how to normalize RMS in XP 4.0? |

Dan, I don't have XP, and I don't have 4.0...(I run Sound Forge 4.5), so I'm not exactly sure how your normalize dialog box is configured. In the dialog box I have for normalization, to Normalize using Average RMS power you need only select that option by clicking the radio button toward the top of the dialog box (directly under the preset drop-down list). If your dialog box looks different, and you can't find this option, I suggest you direct your question to Tech Support by clicking the Tech Support link above and sending them a direct question. Hope this helps, Gary Dan wrote: >>In the help file for Sound Forge XP 4.0 is the following: >> >>"Sound Forge XP also allows normalization to RMS power. >>This means that a scan will be done on the sound file and >>it will be raised in level so its RMS power will be equal >>to the normalization level." >> >>I cannot figure out how to normalize the RMS of my files. >>My normalize box seems only to normalize the Peak. >> >>Does anyone know how to normalize RMS in XP 4.0? |
