Subject:Clicks / Data dropouts...

Hello all,

I've been trying for about a year to track down a problem
and nothing has seemed to work. If I end up with a
completely clean audio file, I can reload it and end up
with numerous 'clicks', which are shown in the data window
as spikes. When zooming in, for all the world it looks just
like a data dropout or garbled bit.

Since there were other problems with my system at the time,
I have eventually replaced the hard drive, op system and
motherboard! I currently am running Win98, Pentium II
400mhz, 8g EIDE hd, 128m ram.

It is *very* frustrating to work long and hard on a file
and find that even saving and opening it will show up
glitches. This is most problematic as I have now installed
(finally) a CD-RW, and I can get files ready to burn, only
to end up with noisy files on the CD!

I am, after having spent MANY hours on this problem, ready
to try another sound editor. If anyone has a clue, please
let me in on it...

Best,
Jon

Jon,

I'm working im the same problem, running about the same "stuff".

Up to now, installing a dedicated HDD for .Wav files only,
I get a good recording (no clicks, drops, etc.), but I have
still problems playing back the files. When they are ready,
I convert them to Session where there is (and never was) any
problem.

Good luck, Arrigo
