Hi Dan, Probably the only thing you could do is work out an EQ setting that 'notches-out' the band of frequencies of the voice. This would be tricky, I would suspect, since 's' sounds are of different frequency than voice. Maybe 2 notches would be needed. SF does have EQ tools, but my own experience with them is limited. I don't really have the answer, but trying to just EQ out vocals isn't going to work very well. For a start there are just too many harmonics in there all the way up the spectrum. You really need a specialised app. I know one way to do this is just find a signal that is present in equal amounts on both left and right channels - vocals are usually panned dead centre ( unless you are Trent Reznor ) - and then use some sort of subtractive algorithm ( inverse phase differentiation? ) to extract that signal. Not easy, and I don't *think* it's possible on std. SF4.5?! Maybe there's a $$$ plugin that you can shell out for though. If you are trying to create a Karaoke mix of a CD, you might want to try an alternative editing-based approach and splice up the instrumental parts of the original version eg. if somewhere there is four bars ( an intro? ) of the verse chord structure then you could paste that in 4 times to get 16 bars of verse without any vox. This of course depends totally on the source material having vox-less instrumental parts that are the same as the vocal backing.
