Subject:Windows 2000 scsi host problem

Hello!

Tried to get cd architect run on win2000 b 2128,
but my cd burner doesn't show up...even worse, I can't
select a scsi host. Same thing seems to happen in
soundforge in the 'sampler menu'
None of the scsi cards seems to get recognised.
Anyone? Do I have to install something else apart from aspi
for win32?

Does anyone have any information regarding this? It is now
August of 2000... does windows 2000 now support aspi? I'd
really rather not be forced to downgrade to windows 98 in order
to resurrect my now-useless scsi hardware/software...

help! please!

harrr. It's now the end of OCTOBER 2000. And, shock-horror, no aspi.
New SCSI drivers for whatever card don't do squat. Theres a massive
Win2K service pack the size of Siberia that I'm currently
downloading, should be done in an ice age or so. From what I gather,
I doubt this will fix the problem either. This is just so very very
NOT funny. So much for the "professional" OS solution. Does NT4 have
this problem, anyone?

*sigh...* imangine what we could achieve if we didn't spend so much
time trying to work around cruddy OS's... :(

more info as it comes...

OK, one Win2k service pack, still no aspi. If anyone devises a remedy
for this situation, like perhaps MICROSOFT, it would be a good
thing... perhaps a version of SF for BeOS would be in order.

Worse still... though it pains me to admit it, I've done a bit of
nosing around, and it looks like Steinberg Wavelab2 DOES support
sampler transfers via SCSI under Win2k. I would be loathed to move to
WL, as I find SF considerably more slick to work with, but by the
same measure, I am loathed to work with Win9x's laughable attempt at
managing large amounts of RAM.

...excuse me while I bang my head off a wall...

Now we are in December, and the problem still hasn't any solution.

I am about to downgrade my system and work on W98 to be able to transfer sound files via SCSI to my sampler.

If Santa Claus reads this, he would be kind to give me a hint...

I have used win2k pro, the first release and had a Scsi card installed with no problems, along with a Scsi CD burner. You must have "Administrator" priveledges to access any hardware in win2k. So check there first, under the control panels password/access section. I ran Sound Forge 4.5 with CD architect and 5.0 with no problems. I had a teckram scsi card. I first went to tekram's website and upgraded the bios update on that, and then upgraded the firmware on my CDR drive, and them went to my motherboards website and upgraded the Bios. If you don't do these things, you will most likely have problems, because these devices won't support win2k properly otherwise. In short the problem is not win2k, it is elsewhere.
