Clips 2-3 frames off

I am having a problem with most of the sync clips in a 53 minute project of mine being 2-3 frames off. I have had to adjust all of the clips manually and am loosing my mind in the process; my family is starting to look out of sync! I am editing with Vegas 7 and using a 23.976 timeline. I’ve got Vegas 8 but didn’t want to switch versions mid project. I shot the footage with an XL-2 at 24p, 2-3-3-2 pull down and captured with Vegas. Any ideas? It’s driving me nuts.

I thought I saw somewhere that 24p might be contributing to this. I don’t know. I’m about to start another project and know that I don’t want the 60i look. What are people’s experiences with 30p? Ever had a sync issue?

Thanks,

Jan

What are you monitoring on? If it's an external monitor via FireWire, there will be latency. You can adjust for this with the sync offset slider. And my recent experience has shown that that latency can vary between framerates, so it's not necessarily a "set and forget" adjustment.

Thanks for the idea but I don’t think it’s a monitoring issue. The clips are out of sync on both the timeline and DVDs.
