Just back from AES in NYC. Sonic Foundry says a 24-bit version of SF will be available Q1 2000. Finally.... http://masteringlab.home.att.net andrew wrote: >>Will Sound Forge support 20 or 24-bit sound in the future??? >>Thank you very much. |

Best news I've heard in a long time. But I already want more... I wonder if add-ins like Noise Reduction (non DirectX) and Acoustic Mirror will work, or will we have to buy separate upgrades? Our Direct X plug-ins will process 24 bit in SF 5.0. Non-direct X Noise Reduction should be upgraded to the Direct X version for 24 bit support. Thanks, Tom. I bought the Noise Reduction upgrade yesterday. It works great. Should Acoustic Mirror work now with Cakewalk 24 bit files? When I try to use it within Cakewalk on 24 bit files (non-real time), it manages to crash not only Cakewalk but NT 4.0, requiring a reboot. If this is normal and will somehow be cleared up when SF 5.0 comes out, OK, I'll wait... If not, any ideas what might be going on? I called up tech support one time (4 months ago) and asked them about that and the guy said that they were working on it, and that the next version of Sound Forge would support 24-bit files, although he was not clear when it would be released. It's probably going to be a while, I'm afraid. Still, I have 3 Sonic Foundry Direct X plug-ins -- Acoustic Mirror, Noise Reduction 1.0, and XFX1 -- and they all work fine with 20- bit/24-bit WAV-files when I use them in Samplitude 2496 and ACID Pro. Obviously, you have to have a sound-card which supports that bit- resolution. my 2 cents worth. :^) //scott vance erickson wrote: >>Thanks, Tom. I bought the Noise Reduction upgrade yesterday.
