I was thinking of making a home studio using my computer.
What I wanted to know was what programs do I need and what
devices do I need such as inputs etc.
Any help would be greatly apreciated!

Wow! That could take quite a bit of time to give you a broad
overview. I would suggest you start on the following websites:

http://www.sospubs.co.uk

Both of these magazines are tremendously helpful if answering exactly
the kind of question you are posing.
