in the supported file formats it does not list MID files to be opened ... it says that it supports virtualy any sound type. and MID being one of the widely/popular and commonly found files on various platforms, how come it does not open this type of a file? |

A .mid file describes the notes that make up a midi recording. The midi data works just like a player piano. It just tells the sound generating device (a synth or keyboard) what notes to play and the sound generating device is responsible for creating the actual sound. As opposed to a .wav file which is a digital representation of the actual sound waves that are recorded. You open a .mid file with a sequencer. The midi cable goes from the computer to a synth and the synth makes the actual sound. If you have a synth on your sound card, its the same principle, only the midi cable is hardwired on the sound card itself. dim wrote: >>in the supported file formats it does not list MID files to >>be opened ... it says that it supports virtualy any sound >>type. and MID being one of the widely/popular and commonly >>found files on various platforms, how come it does not open >>this type of a file? |
