I recently purchased sound forge 4.6 and love the world it has opened to me, however...........when i plug my fancy harmon kardon top of the line hi fi into the computer you can hear the amp humming thru the speakers and program, i can however........... make great recordings from my cheap cassette player and even a walkman which does not have a power on/off button and does not hum at all.Do i have a bad sound card?I have been using the mini jack "out" from the stereo is it better to use rca plug "outs".What is the best way to record from a turntable i have a lot of record albums. If you could steer me in the direction of this information i would be most thankful. Sincerely Ed Ayrey |

So you're saying the Harmon Kardon hums, but you haven't yet tried running from its rca plugs? Try it and see if it fixes it! Regarding the turntable, you need to run it through a stereo that has phono inputs so the correct equalization is applied, then record off the stereo. Good luck. |

I use a Tascam multi track to mix down to Sound Forge and external FX units - I have found that my monitor (I've even purchased a new one and it does the same thing) will cause a hum on my file that I can't hear until playback. It is not the software, but the hardware - Now when I record, after I set up the levels and go into "prepare" mode, I shut off my monitor and hit the space bar to record - this has solved the problem. |
