Like its hardware predecessors, it operates under the following limitations: Lead vocals panned dead center will be almost entirely cancelled. True stereo reverb or panned delays will still be present--kind of a 'ghost'reverb. Stereo background vocals will still be present. Other center-panned instruments--usually bass and kick will also be eliminated or greatly reduced along with the voice. Remove (or at least alter) trable and bass with Process/EQ/Graphic, Parametric or Paragraphic. Our of the box, without a lot of filter design knowledge, the paragraphic is simplest for general tone control. Turn on the high shelf (for treble) and low shelf (for bass); choose a frequency (around 5000 to 12000 Hz for treble and 50 to 100 Hz for bass and adjust the boost/cut for the desired result. This is closest to a simple hardware 'tone control'. No processor, working on a full mix, is smart enough to selectively remove a single instrument--but you can make minor changes for better or worse to the tonal balance. |
