I recently bought the Acid music studio 7.0 (2 days ago) and spent the first few hours happily recording away until my computer crashed. The screen went blue when i hit the record button. I quickly figured out it happened each time i hit the record button. I uninstalled and reinstalled but still had the same problem. I've also downloaded the update ect. I'm not an expert on computers so i am really struggling to find a solution to this stupid problem...i just want to record!!!! I thought i would see if there was anyone out there that could help me before i go get my money back for all the hassle I've had. Thanks |

A blue screen - commonly called a "Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD) - is caused by hardware and the related drivers for that hardware. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your hardware. Have you recently installed any other software or hardware on your system? Peter |

Hi Peter, Thanks for replying. I had installed new software recently so what i did was uninstalled them - and went back to an earlier restore point before i had the bluescreen problem. I've updated everything i could find on my computer - i then reinstalled acid 7.0 and Gearbox, (TonePort GX) which is what i record from onto the acid software but still i have the same problem. I can't figure out if its my computer or acid - everything else works fine on my computer apart from that record button! What else an i do to find the problem? Thanks again Peter, Justin |

Are you using the ASIO drivers with the Tone Port GX? What if you use the built in audio of your box to record audio? Does it crash? Have you updated your TonePort GX drivers? Line 6 is at version 3.3.3.6. I have the TonePort KB37, which uses the same drivers and I am unable to reproduce the problem. When the system goes to a blue screen, is there any indication of the cause? Is a file name specified? Peter |

Hi Peter, I got acid to record! i had know idea what ASIO was but i downloaded the latest update on the website (ASIO4ALL) and it got acid to record again. I can only perform basic tasks on a computer so all these things I have to do to use the software is really way over my head. The thing is, I can't seem to get Gear box to produce sound when I click on that application to change the bass/guitar tone - I can only hear the tone when I go back to acid!? It works when I shut down both aplications then open Gearbox and play around on it - soon as i open acid - Gearbox registers that there is sound but no sound is produced. I hope this makes some sense - I'm having problems myself trying to figure it out! Is it because I use the software with Vista Business or something? What else is there to check to see if I can get both programs to work properly when opened together? Why did it stop crashing when I downloaded ASIO? Thanks for your help Peter. I have been tracking this down a bit. The Line6 TonePort GX drivers appear to be beta. There are many reports of problems on the Line6 forums. WRT ASIO4ALL: The Line6 hardware have their own ASIO drivers. ASIO4ALL emulated ASIO using a completely different method. Some Line6 users have been results with ASIO4ALL under Vista, but others have problems. ASIO4ALL emulated ASIO using the WDM drivers. It also limits how the hardware can be shared in a different way than ASIO does. WRT to your sharing problem, you should make sure to check close audio/midi ports when ACID MS is not the active application. This is in the General Prefs page. You should also read the ACID Music Studio PDF Manual completely. It covers many basic things like this. Peter Message last edited on2/7/2008 2:20:09 PM bypwppch. |

Hi Peter, I thought I was getting on top of this problem but i'm back to square one. The box is already checked off for close audio and MIDI ports? What manual are you talking about? The quick start manual that came with the software or something from the software itself? I've tried to look through the quickstart manual to solve my problem - I followed instructions and thought the software would be good to go. I have no idea where to start hence why I'm reaching out to someone like you for guidance. As you could appreciate yourself - I've spent way to many hours sitting at my computer trying to solve this one problem. Is there a step by step process I could follow to reinstall and try to get it right? I really like the look of this software and I'm willing to sort this problem out so I can get on with what I want to do which is have fun recording our music. Anyway Peter - Thank you for the time you have spent researching the fault I'm having and I hope I can still get some ideas from you. Justin Message last edited on2/7/2008 9:54:47 PM byJustC. |

There is a full manual in PDF format on the disk the product came on. If you downloaded, then you can download the manual as well from our download section. I don't know what your specific problem is. I don't have your specific hardware so I cannot really tell you exactly what to do. As I stated, a Blue Screen is caused by drivers for hardware. Maybe you should try contacting Line6. You might also want to call our tech support. They can be very helpful. Peter |
