Subject:playing/editing music off cds Posted by: JohnCAL Date:5/1/1999 6:03:27 AM I just purchased sound forge 4.5. So, I realize I may be clueless. I can't seem to open and play tracks off a standard audio cd played in my dvd drive. The file extension is listed as "CDA". I can open it as a raw file; but it won't play. Am I wrong to have assumed that soundforge would support standard cd audio files? Or am I missing something. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Subject:Re: playing/editing music off cds Reply by: jlo Date:5/2/1999 6:53:00 AM You either need to buy the CD Architect plug-in to go with it, or you have to use some other tool that does digital audio extraction, like Adaptec CD Spin Doctor (which comes with Easy CD Creator Deluxe). They basically read the .cda files and turn them into .wav files. I think I read on some other discussion group that there's even cheaper, or free software that does DAE out there, but I'm not sure if the post was from some guy with a wooden leg, an eye patch, and a parrot on his shoulder ;). There's also an issue about whether the drive can do DAE, and I know nothing about DVD, so you might want to check that out first. Good Luck, James

You either need to buy the CD Architect plug-in to go with it, or you have to use some other tool
