Subject:batch processing audio

I want to run a script on audio speech files using the
batch converter to process many files at once. My goal is
to establish uniform levels across many different
speakers. However, each speaker has a distinctive speaking
voice -- some are muffled, some are dynamic. I have
achieved volume control, but I am having problems with the
dynamics of the voices.

Does anyone have a suggestion for establishing mid-range
levels, so that SF will eliminate very high and very low
levels that cause a flat or sharp vocal tone?
