I'm looking for a way to add distortion to a sound gradually, kind of like the way that you can adjust the volume of a waveform using a graphic pattern. Is there a way to do that on Sound Forge? |

Not a very good one... You could make a duplicate of the wave form, perform the distortion on one copy, then do some fades and combine them. It's easier in ACID or a multitrack. But that's not really the same thing. There's not much way to do what you're proposing with DirectX effects...one of the weaknesses. You might try using a realtime preview, sending the output to another device for recording, then bounce it back in. That way you could manipulate the plugin settings in realtime. You'd need a fast machine to avoid zipper distortion, though. I realize that was no help at all, but at least you know the scoop. When I need to do this type effect, I generally opt for doing it with outboard gear, then playing the result into the computer. -- Bruce A.
