I selected a groove, addded it to an audio track during recording or play back (in which case the groove track disappears) but I don't hear the selected groove at all.
In the groove pool I also see no option to play the groove.
What am I overlooking?

Is there a Beatmapped clip on the track? You can't apply a groove if that's the case.

You can't really "play the groove" because it's just a mapping; there's no actual audio. You can drag-and-drop grooves onto the timeline (right onto already-painted grooves if you prefer).

Eh... that's what I did, painting it onto an empty track where it appears but not plays during either play back or recording.
What's the purpose of a groove if you cannot hear it in any way?
The manual is not very clear on this. Anyway, that's my opinion.

You paint the groove onto a clip of a loop that's been placed in a track. You can't paint it onto an empty track, because a Groove isn't a beat in itself. It's a way of manipulating a beat, or the Beatmapping on any track. Try applying it to a drum track.

Painting a groove to an empty is not enough. A Groove does not contain audio, but rather a process on audio. To hear the affect of a Groove on a track you must have audio loops on the track. The audio must be "ACIDized" for the Groove to have any affect.

Think of Grooves as a very special case of FX processing. It does not process the actually audio, but manipulates the ACID loop information dynamically.

Note also that Grooves can be very subtle in their affect. It depends greatly on the content and how the audio has been ACIDized.

Okay thanks. I try that then.
