I have so far been unable to get the InspectorXL VST plug-ins working with 9.0d. When added to the chain the plug-ins report 'Cannot open editor window. An unknown error has occurred.' I first noticed the problem on a rather messy XP MCE machine but can reproduce it with 9.0d running on XP Pro SP2 within Virtual PC. The free Inspector also doesn't work. Can anyone confirm this please? |

Not answering your Q, but... You have access all that natively within SF anyway (in case you didn't know) |

Barleycorn, Since you sound like a home brewer I have confirmed that Inspector XL, VST, does not work in SF9. I will add that I have the older version and not the Roger Nichols version. Greg |

Thanks very much for the confirmation. I too am using the Elemental Audio Systems branded version 1.0.2 but Inspector (the free plug-in) was the latest from Roger Nichols Digital. There are no problems with either of them under Sound Forge 9.0c. |

OK - so what are you REALLY gaining other than color coding choices, and an alarm? |

Kennymusicman, I think Barleycorn's point is that he has a VST plug-in that worked in SF until the latest update. Give him a break on using Inspector XL. If he likes it, he can (or should be able) to use it. Hey, there are compressors an limiters in SF too, but I like some third party ones too. It's kind of the whole point of supporting VST. Let's get this thing fixed and back to making music. Greg |

NO - you're missing the point - I'm not attacking - I'm genuinely curious/interested! Barley has this plugin, that may offer features that I hadn't considered and would be worth my looking into. |

This will be resolved in the forthcoming 9.0e update (one to two weeks). Sorry for the inconvenience. J. |

Inspector XL is well beyond what Sound Forge Provides. I am still using 8.0D, I will dontinue to do so until I see better messages in the forums. |

> what are you REALLY gaining other than color coding choices, and an alarm? Detailed analysis and metering (as kbruff says, 'well beyond what Sound Forge Provides' - it's all in the manual), at more or less any stage in the signal path, in any application. K-System meters... It's less useful than it might be in Sony apps because of the one plug-in editor window visible at a time limitation. Incidentally, like Greg_M, I first read your post as an attack. Just as well I wasn't in a position to reply straightaway! Anyway, all's well that ends well. Message last edited on1/25/2008 1:36:43 PM bybarleycorn. |
