Subject:How to calculate the average sample frequency of a .WAV file??

Hi all,

Any1 any idea how I could go about getting the average
sample frequency of a given .WAV file loaded into Sound
Forge 4.5?

Thanks,

Mark.

Sound Forge 4.5 includes the Spectrum Analysis tool (one of
my personal favorites!). Just open Spectrum Analysis (in
the Tools menu) and select the .wav region you're
interested in. This will give you the (magnitude)
frequency response of the selection.

Use the Settings in the Spectrum Analysis window to tweak
for accuracy, but you will probably get decent (spectral)
resolution with the defaults. In general, the longer the
calculation takes, the more accurate it is.

One last note, if you do not make a selection, then the
S.A. will display the response for the N samples to the
right of the cursor, where N is the FFT Size selected in
the Settings.

If you haven't had any DSP and want to know what's going
on, try the S.A. on a few sine waves, a square wave, white
noise, and an impulse.

You can adjust the Settings in the Spectrum Analysis window
to tweak for accuracy, but you will probably get decent
enough (spectral) resolution with the defaults. In
general, the longer the calculation takes, the more
