I've upgraded the system, but still experience those annoying artefacts like gaps (about 40 frames of silence instead of the recorded sound) and jerks, like with vynil recordings when the they jump to the next groove. It doesn't happen too often (once in 10-15 minutes), but I can't get rid of it completely. The config is: Celeron 333 Processor, 32 MB RAM TB Tahiti card, 6.4 Gb Quantum Fireball and 1.6 Gb Digital Caviar HDDs (I tried both) Win 98 Sound Forge 4.0d. And HDD is always kept unfragmented! Please help anybody! And please backup your comment with email (sysmod@glasnet.ru) because I often experience difficulties when connecticting to this forum. Thanks. |

Hi Igor - Dont know what to say 'bout your gaps... I'm thinkin more RAM will help - 32MB is not alot - and it all goes thru RAM first... I experience gaps once in awhile. If I've been working on large graphic files (or audio even) and then try to record - forget it. GAPS a plenty.. but heres a trick that might help ya save some time. (in case you havent already figured it out.) gaps show up in the markers window while you're recording - when you see a gap make a note of the time (or counter ) on your source. CONTINUE to record to your computer... after you're done, go back and listen to the 'gap' in your file. Wind your source back to the time you noted. record (dont forget the pre/post-roll 6 seconds should do it)to a new file. From ther its an easy edit and alot quicker than trying (and failing) to re-record to your hard drive without gaps.
