Subject:Cannot record

My HD crashed, and after reloading NT 4.0 sp3, the NT Digital Audio 3.30 drivers, and Sound
Forge 4.0c, I am getting a loud whine when I attempt to record and check the monitor box.
Playback seems fine. It's upsetting since I'm pretty sure everything is as it was before. Has
anyone experienced this? What can I do to correct it?
