how do you play a wave file and record a new one at the same
time? I have an acoustic guitar file that i want to add
lyrics over, but inorder to get the timming right i need to
hear the music, and i can't seem to play the wave file in SF
while I record the new lyrics wave file.

I've browsed the manual and help file and found no specific
references to this situation. is it so simple they didn't
feel it necessary to include?

You need a multitrack program like CakEwalk, Cool Edit Pro, Logic,
Cubase, all of those
will let you record 8 or more tracks of audio depending on your
configuration and your
computer...
