Vasst Training DVD Vol 1-3

I'm new to Vegas (I have version 8).
I need to learn how to use the program. I was thinking about buying Vasst's training dvd Volume 1-3 but it is for Vegas 7 and DVD Architect 4.

Do yo recommend this?
Is Vegas 8 much different than Vegas 7?
Would Sony's Seminar series (version 8) be better?
Does the Vasst DVDs come with media files to use while watching the DVD?
Does Vasst have Version 8 training videos (for the absolute beginner) in the works?

Thanks in advance,
Kenny Q

These training discs will help you immensley as they break down the basics of the program and walk you through what each part does and they show you alternate methods of workflow. The version # really doesn't matter as the basics are the same. There are goodies included on the disc, just pop it in your computer and download away.

As for version 8, there is a one that is higher up in the series that covers some aspects of version 8 but 1-3 should be just fine for you.

...these dvd's are great...and for a good basic fundamental starting point the Vegas 8 Digital Video and Audio Production book is fine...for about $50...it's good to go through the step by step lesson files...sample media supplied on disk...link below...

I found Douglas Spotted Eagle's VASST Sony DVDs to be the best, and also I'd say Gary Kleiner's are "must haves", as they're very well done. I learned nothing from the Sony ones I could'nt read in the help file, however.

Here's the one that I first learned from (read my Amazon review), 4-5 years ago, that got me started using Vegas successfully, from Spot at:

http://www.amazon.com/Demand-Douglas-Spotted-Editing-Workshop/dp/B00009XFQM/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1200413137&sr=1-16

There's not *that* many updates from V4 to V8, so that version is still very very useful and I re-watch it once a year or so as a refresher. His latest ones are also excellent, recommended. Once Gary's are out I'm sure they'll be useful, as well.

How can I find Gary's dvds?

Ok,
Now I need to decide between Vasst ($85 on eBay) and Gary ($130 Version 8 with more content).

I think I'll go with Gary.

Does anyone own both?
What do you think?

Thanks,
Kenny Q
