I'd also like to know the answer to this, well I'm not that interested in MB but Boris which I have the same problem with.

If I'm not mistaken, someone said earlier just to use the numbers from V6. I believe it's the same version.

Same version maybe. But what if we upgraded from an earlier version of Vegas?
Did Sony leave the S/N out of just the upgrades or out of all boxed versions?
PixelStuff wrote on 9/22/2006, 11:05 AM
I called customer service just a minute ago. They said I was the first person to call in with the missing Boris S/N problem. However, he also theorized that perhaps it was because most people upgraded from V6 and already had a S/N.

Maybe they'll get it all fixed before they sell to many full version retail copies.

Is it possible you have to install it and then link to a Boris' web page and obtain some sort of install code via the web? (I don't know, I'm just asking...)

Nope. That wouldn't be possible because you need the serial number for the installer to run..

Also I should have mentioned in my previous post that Customer service did hunt down a Boris S/N for me. I'm just saying, we don't want bad plublicity if the missing serial number problem gets into stores like Best Buy or wherever.

Surely someone here who got the boxed version can confirm if the Boris serial number came with it or not.

And as a third point. I'm not sure it can be chalked up to just a single glitch in the packaging line. Because I ordered two upgrade copies. Both were identical. Negative on the Boris serial numbers.

The only non Vegas+DVD cards in both boxes were the Movie Looks upgrade card and the Sony Support Options card.

I've just received my boxed V7+DVD too.

No sign of a serial number for Boris, just those for Vegas and DVD (and Cinescore which I ordered as well). Looks like someone in the packing department has forgotten to include a card or something with the serial number for Boris on it.

Not really a problem for me as I already have a serial number for Boris from an earlier version of Vegas, but if someone was buying Vegas fresh they wouldn't be too pleased about it being missing.

I got my boxed version a couple of days ago, just now opened it. Nope, Boris # not there. I used my V6 Boris # when I installed my download.
farss wrote on 9/22/2006, 2:34 PM
Same here.
I got the Boris and MB serial numbers when I upgraded to V6 as a download, they were in the email I was sent.
Most probably those same serial numbers will still work however it's kind of annoying that I can access all my SMS serial numbers from this site but not the MB or Boris ones.
I do understand that the arrangement between those two 3rd party suppliers and SMS may preclude them doing just that. However you'd think as the aim surely for Boris and MB is to get us to buy the full versions of their software making us jump through too many hoops is not the way to do that.

jbjones - I got the boxed version, no serial number. When I called customer service she said there was supposed to be a card in the box with the number - there was not. She told me to hold one moment and then issued me a number right there over the phone. You are not the first person with this issue. They fixed me up on the spot so I am happy.

I think what happened - with all the hand wringing going on in here about the new version they under estimated the number of folks jumping on board and have been frantically trying to meet all the orders. Somebody in shipping was probably stuffing boxes and ran out of "those cards" and they said - ship it anyway and we will fix it later.

All this is fine but what about those of us who live on the other side of the planet or in out of the way places?

Glad this question has been asked -- I was thinking that somehow I was supposed to know the number and not knowing that I knew indicated some intellectual inadequacy (even maybe lack of clairvoyance). I too carefully searched the boxes. I do have the V6 S/N, but assumed that didn't apply -- you can see I haven't been too anxious about sorting this!

I upgraded this week from Vegas 5 + DVD 2 to Vegas 7 + DVD 4, so I never got the serial number for Boris for version 6 last year.
Got my boxes today; no serial number for Boris anywhere.

I emailed Customer Service at Sony through these forums about it this afternoon (referenced my order number) and two hours later they emailed me a "replacement serial number"

Good follow up for the initial mistake.

I actually contacted customer service, and I was told I needed to contact the person who sold the boxed version to me. He says he didn't get it, but he checked around for me and found this thread for me (nice guy, huh). I really thought I was blind or stupid, because I couldn't find the number. I feel good knowing that others have had this problem. Only, I am a bit bothered that the CS rep I talked to told me I had no other options but to contact the seller and he couldn't help me.

I am on an air force base in Japan, so there is a big time difference. When I have issues, it typically takes a while for me to get some help. I hope I can get this settled.

My S/N for Boris LTD when I got my V7 was on a card with the Boris emblem on it like an advertisment and on the back was the serial number. see if you have that card somewhere.
