How about Reaper ? It's a shameless rip-off. |

Shameless? It's stable, runs lean code and never locks up or freezes.Acid is still my fav DAW, but I have tested Reaper extensively and could not believe how little memory and CPU it uses. It lets you organize your FX and plugins and project media as you want and also lets you monitor send FX when recording in real time. Acid only lets you monitor track FX in real time. It's mixer interface and routing capabilities are outstanding. Run both programs and check your CPU usage. Also, see how long it takes to boot Acid vs Reaper... Shameless imitation or vision of how I wish Acid was setup on some things? A little of both but for $50, I dont think ANY one can beat Reaper! Ill stick with Acid because its second nature by now, but I wish I could have some of the features I listed above in Acid 7. Message last edited on1/10/2008 2:57:46 PM byohmaya. |

It is a shameless ripoff. The first versions were absolutely identical to Acid. The developer has no ethics imo. The only thing worse is that app's obnoxious league of one-eyed fanboys. Also amusing was a recent poll on KvR asking "why don't you use Reaper?". Amazing what damage fanboys can do. So, what's similar to Acid ? Reaper. |
