Subject:Help with midi events Posted by: tonyhell Date:1/8/2008 3:05:16 PM I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to shorting the "looping length" of a midi clip that I'm working on. No matter what I do, the program puts a space at the end of the clip like there's some kind of invisible beat. There's nothing there and I'm tried trimming it and slicing it and everything, but when I go to loop it, there's still a big space at the end. I think I had accidentally put a note there, but erased it and now the clip is stuck at that length. I've tried copying it to a new clip. I've tried copying the notes that I want to keep and then pasting them, but still Acid keeps putting a space at the end. I thought this should be an easy thing to do and I've been searching the manual. You can slip, you can slide, you can trim, you can slice, but I can't see anyway to just pull the loop point at the end of the event to where I want it to loop. Is it clear what I'm trying to describe? Because I can elaborate more if necessary. I would just start from scratch, but I encounter this problem often and I don't want to have to start over every time I accidentally make a clip too long.

Check your last MIDI note and make sure that it doesn't go past the end of the last beat interval - zoom as far as you can to make sure that the note stays within the measure. For example, if your project is in 4/4 time and the last note just goes slightly over the 5.1 line, it will cause the loop to extend another measure. Or if your loop spans multiple measures - let's say 2 measures of 4/4 - then all notes must lie within the first 8 beats; make sure that the final note(s) in the loop don't pass the 9.1 boundary. They can snap right to it and it should be OK, but if they go the slightest bit past the end, ACID will think your loop goes for another measure. 2. Does the time signature of the loop match that of your project? For example, if you've got a loop that spans 4 beats but your project is in 3/4 time, the last beat of your loop will extend into the next beat. This has never been the case for me, so I'm not sure how ACID handles this, but it's something to check. The bottom line in both cases is that the notes in the MIDI loop must not extend past the end of the total number of beats in the loop, and this should be completely in sync with the time signature of the project. I wanted my loop to end mid-measure, which would require a temporary change to 2/4 time for that measure. Anyway, before I saw this I found a work around which was to copy it and join two of them together. Then it looped when it was supposed to. I kinda wish loops were not locked to measure or there was some way to override it. Thanks.
