After weeks of struggling to get an emu 1212 system to work properly Ive decided to bin it [ see previous posting] . Its just too complex .It sounds great but is not stable for midi . Thinking about M.Audio 2496 . Does anyone use one reliably ? basically I just want something that does what it says on the tin cos. Ive got tons of music to hopefully produce! Would be very grateful for your opinions/ advice , Cheers. Steve.

It even has vista drivers now if thats where you are going to or are using.

I've never used the 2496 but I hear it's a solid interface. I have the M-Audio Firewire 410 and it works great. I prefer an external device using firewire because it keeps all of the audio outside of the PC which is a rather noisy environment. The Echo Gina 3G is also a nice interface.

I also prefer an external device to avoid noise problems and I always purchase equipment in specialized music stores.
I've got Edirol UA-5 (USB) and it works great. There are new interface models either USB or Firewire.

whats your budget.. I/O needs etc?

I use m-audio daily, editol, rme and motu daily in my work so i have a little experience with various cards.
Never ever had any problems with edirol, rme or m-audio.

I use an Echo MiaMIDI.

I'd google some questions about the interface you are interested in. That said, I've always heard good things aboyt m-audio cards.

I also have an M-Audio Firewire 410, and am quite happy with it.

Ditto - M-audio 410 - for the cost and quality can't beat it.

When this first came out - i knew a few big electronic acts that used it - so that's telling you something.

I have used an Edirol FA-101 for several years. My son has the FA-66. Both have proven to be rock solid and stable. The driver worked right out of the box. I am very happy with the sound as well.

Happy shopping!

Kevin
