Hello, I know you guys are aware of this problem, as I have read many of the posts. I am not going to get on the bashng train, but I realize the more info you have the better. As others, I have noticed major timing differences (inconsistancies)each time I start playback of the master machine... In this case,ADATS using the BRC to generate MTC. I have actually noticed the acid tracks SPEEDING UP at times, mostly right after lock is achieved. (Of course where no tempo changes are placed) If recording tracks to ADAT (which is often the case) if I have to change anything on the acid track, trying to punch in on the ADAT is pointless because timing is so bad. Acid is a very cool program, but this bug renders it totally useless in my studio. heres my system specs; pentium 3 733mhz 128 rdram (pc800 non ecc) intel VC820 motherboard 15gig Maxtor diamond plus HD on UDMA66 bus ADAT edit PCR card MIDIman usb MIDIsport2x2 midi interface ATI Rage fury Maxx video Windows 98 The MTC generated from our BRC has provide flawless code for every other program we use , except this one. Thanks, and happy hunting;) |

Having worked with Adats in the past and pulling my hair out many times because of it, why don't you try this instead. Whenever I have sync issues, I try reversing the sync and in most cases it works better. Try syncing DA- 88's to Adats one time. Having the Adats chase the DA-88's never works, but having the DA-88's chase the Adats seems to work much smoother. So my point is, why don't you have the Adats chase MTC from Acid, this way you are guaranteed not to have any tempo changes from Acid, and the sync from a PC is usually steadier than from any tape format. Hey Brian, Never worked with DA-88s first hand, but I could see how that could be a stinker;)Different sync proticols and all. To date however, ADATs BRC has never given me any trouble when outputting MTC to my computer, except with this program. Maybe I was just lucky? Dont know for sure. All I know is that it isn't worth the extra effort to completely re-wire half my studio in order to make this one program happy. It represent only a small fraction of what I do. I do expect a certain amount of effort when getting things to sync properly, but hours in the middle of a session in order to be able to continue, only to realize in the end that it is useless and that the most basic aspects of timing are suspect, makes me feel like this porgram isn't worth any more of my effort until they develop a patch or a new version that addresses this issue. But I do thank you for your insight! IF I get a chance when nothing is going on I may give it a try.I Just can't afford to spend any more time on it while people are paying me. It makes me look bad and makes the studio look bad. And in this biz, reputaion is everything. Thanks man! Two things: - Make sure ACID is set to trigger only, not chase to incomming MTC - Make sure that ACID and the ADATs are all running on the same clock source.
