Subject:HELP !!!Acid does't seem to be smooth (as it was)

I installed Acid 2.0 last week. I test drove it when I
first installed, and it seemed to work great. I since have
attempted to use the Virtual Midi Router, so I installed
it, (still can't figure out how to make it work) I don't
know if this has anything to do with it, but ......
it seems as though after installing the VMR Acid does not
give me a smooth transition between parts. It really has
become a struggle to make them snych together. There is
either too much of a time gap, or the parts dont sound
smooth when going from one part to another.
For example if I throw a drum track on track 1, then put a
different drum beat on track 2, they dont sound together at
all. even if I use them in seperate measures of the
tune...... Could I have done something to change the way
Acid performs ??? I am attempting to create a new tune out of the
supplied loops (yes, the files I'm using are Acid loops).
I'm baffled, and angry because it seemed to work OK
before....as a matter of fact, I saved the original tune I
created, and when I open it, it plays fine. Anything new I
have tried to create, is not working..... I am almost to
the point of giving up.....
Any response is appreciated.

P.S. Should I be using a "snap to" grid ??? when creating ?? I dont
remember what the settings were when I first created that tune, as I
was just experimenting.
Also, I have enabled and disabled midi in acid...

Try toggling snapping on and off by using F8 on your
keyboard.

You should be using snapping *unless* you need something
special to do or you're zoomed in on the track. Most of the loops for
ACID were designed to be "beat friendly."

Iacobus,
Thank you for your response, I was beginning to wonder if
any one was out there..... (kidding)
what setting would be normal or "default" when using the
snap feature ???
Also, I'm not sure I know what you mean by "zoomed" in on a
track......are saying that if your zoomed in, the snap
feature is dis-abled or not used ????
excuse me if these questions seem obvious to you, but I am
very new to this acid thing. Great program (when it is
working)

"Ruler Marks" is, I believe, the default. Using a snap-to
setting is all purely a matter of preference.

Depending on how zoomed in you are and what snap-to
resolution you're using could mean the difference between
precision and frustration.

Say you're using Thirty-Second Note for Snap To and are
using "Zoom Normal" (F9). This could be quite maddening if
you're trying to place part of a Track on a particular
thirty-second note you want that part to be on. You more
than likely will have to zoom in using the Zoom Tool.

Using the Zoom Tool to zoom in on a Track (or Tracks) does
not disable snap-to. It simply is an aid that makes it
easier to see the snapping being done while moving/drawing
a Track, so you'll know precisely where the Track is being
placed/drawn in relation to not only the time/tempo of the
project but other Tracks in the project as well.

No question is stupid, so never hesitate to ask. It
actually took a little bit before I discovered the snap-to
thing myself. (Mostly, this was because I had so much
overload in learning the power ACID provided. :o) )
