Subject:Cubasis and Acid Pr0-2

Hi Folks,
Just wondering if anyone is using Cubase with "acid"...... Within
Acid there is a utility called the VMR,
Virtual Midi Router. It says in the (Acid) manual that you can
control Acid through other midi capable applications and vice versa. I
am just wondering if anyone has had experience with this.
From what I can gather, I would have to have Acid "slave" to cubasis,
because I dont believe cubasis can recieve midi data (time code).
But before I go ahead and attempt to configure the VMR driver, I
would like to know if anyone has had any experience with this .....
any response is appreciated.
Thanks,
Dr.Zeemo
This is what the manual says:
The sonic foundry vitual Midi Router (VMR) is a software only driver
included with ACID Pro, that allows you to control acid from
other midi capable applications and vice versa under Windows 9x and
Windows NT, without using midi hardware. A midi router simply
transfers Midi data from one port to another. The Sonic Foundry VMR
driver does exactly this, but requires no hardware The
driver provides up to four devices for Midi output, and input. Each
of the output devices sends all midi data to it's corresonding input
device. If one application sends midi data through the #3 sonic
foundry Midi router output device, another application can recieve
this Midi data as input from the #3 sonic foundry Midi Router input
device.
Note: The first charactor of the device name is a device number from
1 to 4 The device number is placed at the beginning of the name for
compatibility with sequencer software that tries to display device
names in very small places. (end note)

The Sonic foundry VMR can be useful for synchronizing two Midi
capable applications. You can trigger ACID from your midi sequencer,
or you can drive your MIDI sequencer from Acid using SMPTE/MTC. you
can accomplish this and more with out using MIDI hardware for routing.
END.
What I am gathering from this, is that you can control Acid and
cubase using this "VMR". The main thing I'm looking to do with
this, is to (for example) create a drum track in ACID, at say 85 bpm.
and then transfer it into cubasis, at the same bpm. and have it be
synchronized to the midi clock. That is the main thing I need, is to
be able to have both applications use the midi clock..... (on the
D-man external midi) That way when I create a track, in acid I can
use it in Cubase, and add midi, and other instruments according
to the time of the midi clock......(metronome)
I dont know if I have explained myself well enough, The main thing
I'm trying to say here is, I need these app's to synchronize with
eachother, and I am not sure if
1)Cubasis gives me this ability
2) How to set up The VMR midi ports in acid
Any response is appreciated.
Thanks,
Dr. Zeemo

BTW, I have done a search both here and at the Cubase
forum, and I am thinking from what I'm reading that
synching these two app's to use midi clock is not
possible..........
anyone ?????
