Hi , just invested in acid 6 after years of acid4. [pretty sucsessful]. I was hoping for a miracle maybe , a working integration of audio and reliable midi recording, Clearly this is NOT the case. Why cant u guys at sony just add solid midi , especially VST i to an already great program , cut out all the crap , [media mgr. etc. ] and be up there with the big boys, Cubase, pro tools etc.???. I have been trying to use AP6 with EMU 1212 and
Proteus x as a VSTi . Midi is just not stable , sometimes it plays sometimes its totally out of time , notes drop out etc. In 3 whole days have not recorded anything .makes me so angry ! I thought the idea was to be creative without all this hastle .Anyone got any ideas , specially you sony guys before i finally relearn cubase, or get the computer hammer out!!!
To summarise: Pentium 4 3.00 1 gig ram XP home , emu 1212 no internet , music only ., 2 HDs one O.S one audio .
Think I might watch telly 4 a change
HAPPY NEW YEAR !

Can you provide some specifics as to the problems you are having?

The more details the better.

Thanks
Peter

Just so you know... I have a very stable experience with acid 6, and I am not alone. I run a good many vsti instruments, everything from syhthedit freebees to Kontakt, Wusikstation, and IK products. No problems.

So try to remain calm. We can help.

ok here goes, Insert midi trk. Open up Proteus x vsti. load bank. input emu midi port ch. 1. Output proteus x . Record piano track, sounds ok. Insert midi trk.2.Input emu ch.2, out proteus x , PLAY, still plays original piano sound , record ok but still on piano ,
Does not recognise midi channel change even tho proteus bank is loaded with 16 instruments set to receive on channels 1-16 . Midi input thru selected . Changing channel on master keyboard[ Korg triton ] makes no odds. I realise this could be a problem with proteus x but have re-installed it and it appears to be fine . I am now thinking about re- install of acid .P.S. the telly is crap.!

Thanks for the encouragement ! Did you have much difficulty getting to this stage?

Have you set the MIDI output channel of each track correctly?

The input channel and ouput channels on a MIDI track are independent of each other.

So you can listen/record from Channel 1, but play (and thru) to Channel 5.

hi peter , changing output channel makes no difference. The 1st recording is fine but then inserting new track, changing to new sound on new channel or even new soft synth the program still wants to record the original sound. occasionally it will recognise the new channel but plays and records both together even with output set to soft synth 2 . I have also noticed that inserting a new track does not automatically go to next available channel as it should[ according to help ] . Basically Ive tried every possible combination of input / output routing / channel selection / soft synth etc. etc.
Time to re-install maybe ?

threeboots,
I hope I'm not the bearer of bad news, buy...

Have you googled the problrm? Specificly, have you googled the proteus problem? Yesterday there was a thread over on kvraudio, and the consenses was that emu has dropped the ball. I'm not accusing anybody of everything. Does emu have a help forum?

Also, search this site. I remember something about emu interfaces, but I can't remember what.

Let me ask you this. Is this a problem with all plug-ins, or just proteus? Reinstalling helps some problems, but if the problem is just you vsti folder, I don'y know if that will help a lot.

I am unable to reproduce with synths other than the EMU. (I do not have the Proteus installed, but will so I can see if there is something unique to the Proteus.)

Does this problem happen with all softsynths or just the EMU for you?

Peter

Hi guys thanx 4 the help but it seems to be sorted . A combination of changing midi lead from kybd to cpu. Removing an extra version of proteus from VSTi folder [ dont know how it got there ] and a bit more familiarity with a complete new set up seems to have done the trick ! can now run 4 soft synths a.o.k.[ might even do some music now!
HAPPY NU YEAR
