I used my 7 days of full version of Acid 2.0 last week and
am back on Acid Express.

Something has changed in the insertion of loops from
before - they do not fit automatically into the time bar
and also used to be painted as entire files where as now I
am finding that the size of the inserted wave is far more
sensitive etc . Is this usual ?

Did F8 get accidentally pressed? That key toggles snapping.

HTH,

I'm not musically gifted, so this probably not the technically
correct explanation, but it should get the meaning across. If you
have 'Snapping' turned ON, all the wave forms that are added or are
moved will 'Snap' or lock onto the nearest timing point as selected
under the 'Options>Snap To' menu. You can Snap To the following:

Ruler Marks
Whole Notes
Half Notes
Quarter Notes
Eighth Notes
Sixteenth Notes
Thirty-second Notes
and Sixty-fourth Notes

Whole notes represent a course adjustment while Sixty-fourth Notes
are the finest adjustment other than turning 'Snapping' OFF. Turning
it OFF allows the wave forms to be put anywhere along the timeline
regardless of falling on a natural timing mark. If you zoom in real
close you will see that your wave forms are sometimes way out of sync
with the Snapping OFF even though they look to be on the marks when
painting them in.

Music is basically math and timing is everything.

Perfectly explained, if I don't say so myself. :o)
