Subject:Will MP3 EVER be supported with ACID or not?

Every decent audio software now supports MP3. Even Adobe PREMIERE finally decided to support MP3 (at last) in the upcoming PREMIERE 6.0 . What will it take for ACID to support this as well??? Many people publish royalty free loops at mp3.com . Also, when we create loops, it takes so much space, that converting them to MP3 is the logical choice, especially at high bit rates where the quality is so close to CD quality that we wouldn't see much of a difference in the final product anyway. Maybe this question has been answered already... But I've been coming around since last February, and since then, nothing has been done yet towards MP3 with ACID. WILL we, or WONT we see this feature anytime in the near future? Thank you, Martin |

I don't know really what to say, Martin, other than I have absolutely no problems whatsover saving an ACID project as an MP3. (I'm using ACID Pro 2.0d.) ... but not for ACID Express. You have to have a genre edition at the very least and be sure to install the mp3 plugin. It should be on the CD with the application software and will require the proper registration number you get when you register the software with SF. If you don't activate your plugin, it will expire after a pre- determined number of encodes. While .mp3 rocks the world today, .ogg (the Ogg-Vorbis format) will be the wave of the future because the codecs will be as good or better than mp3 and it is designed with internet streaming in mind. In addition, it is open source and will always be free of licensing... mark my words. Subject:Hoping for the triumph of the superior file format

I hope so. A truly superior format with fewer restrictions is always better, but sometimes the lack of an uptight (but funded) coporate parent seems to leave a file format lingering in the growth stages forever. For example, in web graphics, PNG is a much better format than either GIF or JPG, supports the features of both, and is usually about the same size. But since neither Microsoft or Netscape had a relationship or involvement in its creation, its lingered as a great might've been, with only half-baked support in IE and Netscape.
