Hi, I recently bought ACID Pro 6.0d and have been having problems with its connection to my M-Audio MobilePre USB preamp. Specifically, when I'm playing audio (either regular audio or MIDI through my VST's: EastWest's symphonic orchestra and M-Audio's Key Rig/Drum and Bass Rig) I'll get random pops when the system gets too busy. This problem happens randomly, but it does seem to happen less when I close the window of whatever VST it is that I'm working with. So this has me wondering if it's a visual issue of some sort... In addition, the pops and random snaps have been happening whenever I play anything in RealPlayer also. My specs are as follows... -HP Pavilion 4419 US Notebook -2 Gigs Ram -Windows XP -Intel Pentium M Processor 1.60 GHz In ACID... -Playback buffering at .08 -Track buffering at 2.00 I've already gone through a boatload of steps to try to fix this (including doing all of the XP tweaks listed on the internet that I could find, turning down the resolution on my Intel graphics card, turning wireless off, messing with ACID's Audio settings, etc), but nothing has worked. I'm tempted to just move on to a more expensive preamp because I'm starting to wonder if it's just a limitation of the PreAmp (or possibly my computer). Anyway, sorry to ramble... I hope this was clear. Does anyone have any suggestions? Any help would be much appreciated... |

I'm sorry that I can't help you with your problem, but I noticed that you have M-audio Bass/Drum rig. What do think of it? Does one have to be a musician to use it? How does the drum end of the rig compare to what can be done with M-audio Trigger Finger drum? Sorry again about not being able to help. Bill |

No problem... I really like both Rigs... I got both for 100 over at novamusik.com....don't know what the price is now, though... I haven't used trigger finger before, so I don't know how it compares. But as I said, I like both of them. They might be processor intensive, though...(and possibly the reason why I'm having the problems I'm having). But it's not entirely them, because those same problems occur when I use Kompakt w/ Sony's library or my eastwest orchestra. Oh, and they were pretty easy to start using, at least for me... For the key rig, you pretty much have to be a musician (whatever that means, haha) of some sort because your sound options are a variety of pianos, organs, and a synth. That being said, it's always good to be able to tinker around (musician or not), and this definitely lets you do that. As far as the drum/bass goes, it's a pretty simple system... It has a loop machine that you operate by pressing one key at a time, a drum machine'esque player (can't record w/ it in the rig, though), arpeggiator (which can also be operated pretty simply), and an electric bass (which I love....when I can get it to work). Hope this helps... If you have any other questions, feel free to ask... Does anybody have any advice on my problem? Once again, it's much appreciated... I answered your post over on the DMN forums. Try using the M-Audio Mobile Pre ASIO 2 Drivers. These are the drivers for your device and if they don't work you have a bigger problem. ~jr |
