my question is this!! me and a couple of my friends are trying to record a hip-hop demo. we have been using a boss drum machine, a keyboard and a digtal 8 track recording studio, we have been saving our music on a zip disk.. the problem is when we try to burn a cd, the music comes out not sounding too good.the main problem we are having is the vocals,is there a program where we can load a zip disk and edit our music to sound better so when we burn it, it sounds somewhat professional?? we are trying to burn cd's to sell out of our truck and we just want to make sure we give people a good sounding cd! please any advice would be taking with open ears!!! thank you |

Clarence-- There are a few things you can check-- The output vloume of your soundcard should be set at full. If you have something like a Soundblaster Live!, you can set this from the Mixer. Record at the lowest speed possible. Mix your music with care--avoid too many tracks at once. You might try saving as a wav file, and then remixing in a digital mixer like vegas. Unless you're using a professional level digital card and burner, there are going to be some limitations. vince clarence wrote: >>my question is this!! me and a couple of my friends are >>trying to record a hip-hop demo. we have been using a boss >>drum machine, a keyboard and a digtal 8 track recording >>studio, we have been saving our music on a zip disk.. the >>problem is when we try to burn a cd, the music comes out >>not sounding too good.the main problem we are having is the >>vocals,is there a program where we can load a zip disk and >>edit our music to sound better so when we burn it, it >>sounds somewhat professional?? we are trying to burn cd's >>to sell out of our truck and we just want to make sure we >>give people a good sounding cd! please any advice would be >>taking with open ears!!! thank you |

Well it sounds like you need to invest in some recording classes. There are many factors you are running into. I use to teach for a recording school which now has online classes, see www.recordingeq.com, if you're interested. The main one that it sounds to me, is being able to use a compressor. If you owned a compressor and properly use it on your vocals, then your vocals would stand out in your mix. The next thing you need to learn about is "mastering". Your mixes will never be comparable to any CD you've purchased until it's been through a professional mastering process, that's what I do for a living. You might find yourself banging your head against walls for awhile trying to be an artist and trying to get your mixes comparible to professional recordings. That's because professional engineers do this kind of stuff for a living and have already experienced the walls you're running into. They have the education and experience to overcome them, so that's why artist usually choose to go to a professional recording studio instead of trying to do it themselves, it's not so much about what equipment you have now days, it's having the knowledge of using it correctly. clarence wrote: >>my question is this!! me and a couple of my friends are >>trying to record a hip-hop demo. we have been using a boss >>drum machine, a keyboard and a digtal 8 track recording >>studio, we have been saving our music on a zip disk.. the >>problem is when we try to burn a cd, the music comes out >>not sounding too good.the main problem we are having is the >>vocals,is there a program where we can load a zip disk and >>edit our music to sound better so when we burn it, it >>sounds somewhat professional?? we are trying to burn cd's >>to sell out of our truck and we just want to make sure we >>give people a good sounding cd! please any advice would be >>taking with open ears!!! thank you |
